Update: It's been reported that the Miami Dolphins have released wide receiver Chad Johnson less than 24 hours after his arrest. He was released from Broward County Jail on Sunday and was charged with domestic battery, a misdemeanor in Florida. There is also an order that forbids Johnson from contacting his wife.
On July 4 Chad Johnson married his fiance Evelyn Lozada. Thirty-eight days later he is in police custody for misdemeanor domestic abuse. On Saturday the pair were dining out when Evelyn apparently confronted her hubby about a receipt for a box of condoms. The argument took a turn on the drive home with the couple disagreeing on what happened next. Evelyn claims that Chad headbutted her while Chad says that Evelyn leaned over and the pair bumped heads. Evelyn called the police from their home and she was taken to a hospital and treated for a cut to her forehead, Chad was arrested and must see a judge before he can be released. Evelyn stars in the reality tv show Basketball Wives. She was once engaged to former basketball player Antoine Walker. Chad changed his name back to Johnson, formerly Ochocinco, after the couple were married. The wedding was filmed for the reality show. Chad Johnson was signed by the Miami Dolphins after an unsuccessful season with the New England Patriots where he caught only 15 passes all season. There were claims that he had trouble grasping the Patriots playbook. In his first action as a Dolphin on Friday night, Johnson dropped the only pass thrown in his direction in a 20-7 loss to Tampa Bay. A spokesman for the Dolphins said that the team was "aware of the situation and are in the process of gathering the relevant information." We're not quite sure how the domestic situation will play out on the reality show.
