At least six troops including three US soldiers of the special Task force were killed in Afghanistan in two seperate incidents of firing.
In the first incident , three US soldiers were killed when an unidentified armed man properly uniformed as Afghan National Army opened indiscriminate firing over them, said sources from across the border on Saturday.
Sources told quoting NATO officials that the incident took place in the province of Helmand on Friday when they were attending a meeting in Sangeen District of the said province.
“All three were members of the special Task force and the killer was arrested on the spot” said the sources adding that the identity of the assaulter was kept secret on the advice of the high ups.
In yet another incedint of firing an Afghan National killed three NATO troopes in the southren part of Afghanistan.A spokesman to ISAF Maj.loori said that the incident took place on friday night. He, However did not mentioned the nationalities of the killed troops.The fresh incident also took place in district Garamsar of the same Helmand province on an airbase used by the NATO and US forces.Sources are silent over the question how did the man get access to the ammunition and than entered into the most safe area in sipte of the tight security.
No organization has accepted the responsibility of the incidents till filing of this report as it was not known that whether the assaulter was in fact a member of Afghan National army or he belonged to some militants groups.
Analysts of Afghan affairs say that there is an increase in the incidents of killing US and NATO forces in the uniform of Afghan National army which is an alarming situation for the ISAF and especially US forces in Afghanistan.
In the same kind of an incident, an other US army personnel was killed in the eastern Afghanistan some days back when a man opened firing who was also wearing afghan national army uniform.
Sources have also confirmed that on high level it is being considered to impose ban on the availability of the afghan National Army Uniform so as to control the abuse of the uniform against US and NATO forces in Afghanistan. (ihsan_dawar@yahoo.com)
