Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. San Diego Padres relief pitcher Huston Street might out of action for a short while after he suffered a calf injury Friday night in Pittsburgh in the San Diego Padres win over the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park.
Street injured his left calf when the last out of the game was recorded by running to first base when first baseman Yonder Alonso waved him off so he could tag the base and record the last out of the game. Street limped off the field as the game ended.
Street said of his injury "I was going off the mound and pulled my calf. Hopefully it heals sooner than later. I'm just thinking right now of a way to get it healed."
San Diego Padres manager Bud Black said his "premonition" is that his relief pitcher will be out of action "for a while."
It is a bad break that Padres do not need right now as Street has a very good relief pitching record in 2012.
