Contrary to reports, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are not getting hitched this weekend.
Although the pair hadn’t specified a wedding date, preparations at the French home of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie sparked speculation that they are preparing to marry in an intimate ceremony. However, French officials dismissed the rumors saying the Hollywood couple will not be tying the knot in their luxury Chateau Miraval estate in the South of France.
According to latest news reports, Patrick Mareschi, deputy culture secretary of the village of Correns refuted the allegations, saying: "We don't know anything about it. Under French law couples have to get married at the town hall. Unlike with a religious wedding, there's no way a couple can hold a civil ceremony at their own home."
Meanwhile, photo agency X17 posted a message on their website poking fun at the rumors of the all-star wedding. The agency announced: "We sent an X17 photographer all the way down to the south of France - it's pretty much in the middle of nowhere - to check out Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's chateau Miraval to see just what's going on and ... drumroll, please ... there's NOTHING going on!"
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, popularly known as “Brangelina,” met during the filming of “Mr & Mrs Smith” in 2005. At the time Pitt was still married to actress Jennifer Aniston.
The A-list couple have a brood of six children, Maddox, 10, Pax, 8, Zahara, 7, Shiloh, 5 and twins Knox and Vivienne, 3.
Reportedly, the Hollywood power couple got engaged after Brad Pitt, 48, popped the question to Angelina Jolie, 37, with $250,000 diamond and platinum engagement ring designed by jeweller Robert Procop.
News of the wedding gained momentum after a source told The Sun newspaper: “Brad flew in to oversee preparations but they’re all here now. They say it’s for Jane and Bill, but some think this could be it. Even Angelina’s private jeweller is here.”
The Sun went on to claim that the couple had always planned for a small ceremony at their Chateau Miraval home. Their guest list, which is expected to be not more than 20, would include actor George Clooney, 51, who’s yet to arrive at the venue.
A source told the publication: “George and Brad are best pals, there’s no way he’d miss it. He’s at his house in Italy, but could fly to Marseille in an hour. There’s a real buzz around the estate.”
Spokespeople for Pitt and Jolie have not yet commented on the speculations.
