I was just out of college and had no money, no job. I’d been sending out resumes for months with little to show for it, I was running out of savings. Then, my Uncle gave me The Van. I didn’t have a car, and he was getting a new van, so he asked me if I wanted his old one. It was a beat-up old economy model, missing all but the front seats, dented and scratched. It had seen a hundred and fifty thousand hard miles, no air conditioning, and no radio. But it was four wheels and it still moved under its own power, and it was, most importantly, free.
