Little did the 911 caller know that the nude person lying on the road and the one he was reporting and describing to the police was.
“I just found a guy lying in the road,” the caller said in a recording released by the Sheriff’s office. “I just found a guy lying on the road. I want to say he had no shirt on, but I don't know.
The 911 operator asked the caller, “Do you think possibly he could have had a wreck?” to which he responded, “I really am scared. I want to stay in my vehicle.”
“I’m kinda spooked out," the caller said, according to LA Times.
When the authorities arrived to the scene, they recognized Travis lying on the road naked, bruised and smelling of alcohol. He ran his car off the road into the barricades creating a big mess.
He was arrested for driving while intoxicated and threatening the officers that he would shoot and kill them. This was reported in a statement by the Sherriff’s office. He did not agree to take a Breathalyzer test because of which a blood test was taken later at the hospital. The test results are pending.
The mug shot taken later that night shows a bruised Travis with a black eye and cut on the forehead.
As the word spread about his arrest and DWI, area residents brought him clothes to the jail. Travis was released on a $21,500 bail, reportedly paid by a fan, on Wednesday.
This isn’t the first time that he has been found intoxicated and violating the law. Earlier this February, Travis was involved in another alcohol-related incident in which he was spotted in a vehicle in front of a church in Sanger, 20 miles from his home in Tioga, where he lives. Police report said that he had gotten into a fight with his girlfriend. Travis later sent out a public apology for his conduct, saying, "I apologize for what resulted following an evening of celebrating the Super Bowl. I'm committed to being responsible and accountable, and apologize for my actions."
