In the women’s 200 meters of the 2012 Summer Olympics at London,, a USC graduate, won the gold with a time of 21.88 seconds, pulling away at the end.
On this night, she was a study in concentration from start to finish. She was so focused she didn't know what was happening around her, and didn't remember a lot about it later. As she drew near the finish line, she had no way to know where the other runners were.
The 200 meters winner is slim and smooth, and is one of the most graceful athletes in the sport in style and stride or perhaps a little too elegant.
Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce of Jamaica took the silver in 22.09, and American Carmelita Jeter took the bronze 22.14. Jeter (Bishop Montgomery/Cal State Dominguez Hills) also took silver in the 100. Victoria Campbell-Brown finished fourth, 22.38.
