On Monday, the former American professional basketball player Dan Roundfield died in a tragic way; the 59-year-old reportedly drowned in Aruba; while helping his Bernie, who struggled in rough waters. Dan and his wife were in Aruba’s south eastern tip where the couple ended up trapped in the rough water, said police.

According to Bernie, Danny (Dan) Thomas Roundfield, who played for Washington, Detroit, Atlanta and Indiana for as many as 11 professional seasons in his career, knew the ‘Baby Beach’ swimming area very well. While talking to the media men following the tragedy, she further informed that they visited the area frequently in past.

However, Monday’s tragedy occurred at the same rough water where the couple got trapped beyond a protected reef area. Well-known for having enjoyed three consecutive All-Star seasons, the NBA veteran lost his life and drowned off the Caribbean island of Aruba, attempting to help Bernie, confirmed John Larmonie, a police spokesman.

John further conveyed that apparently, Dan was swept away in a strong current and eventually drowned. Some 90 minutes after the tragedy, Dan’s body was discovered by police; trapped by underwater rocks. Countless fire fighters and volunteers also assisted police who searched the entire area along with the Coast Guard.
