A Florida woman who was driving topless on her way to surprise her boyfriend wound up behind bars after she led police on a car chase, authorities said.
Mandy Ramsey, 35, was spotted speeding in a Ford F-250 pickup truck on County Road 318 in Marion County on Saturday when a patrol car tried to pull her over, according to a Marion County Sheriff's Office report obtained by the Gainesville Sun.
According to the report, Ramsey didn't stop and continued down two streets before running a stop sign and hitting an oak tree.
The deputy had lost Ramsey during the pursuit but found the truck parked behind a mobile home. The passenger side mirror was broken and an oak tree leaf was sticking out of it, the report said.
Deputies found the truck's owner, Ramsey's boyfriend, who said he hadn't been driving it. When they found Ramsey, she admitted she was behind the wheel but didn't want to stop because she was driving topless to go surprise her boyfriend, the report said.
Ramsey was arrested and charged with fleeing and eluding the police and was released Sunday on $5,000 bond, jail records showed. It was unknown whether she has an attorney.
