London Olympics 2012:German weightlifter drops 432-pound barbell on his head: Video

German Weightlifter Drops 432-Pound Barbell On His Head, Walks Away

Defending weightlifting gold medalist Matthias Steine, had a terrifying moment during the men's snatch onTuesday when he dropped a barbell weighing 432 pounds on his neck during the Olympic 105+ kg group A competition.

Steiner lifted the bar over his head in his second lift of the snatch portion but couldn't power through the crouch position and it came crashing down on his head and neck.

After this shocking incident Steiner couldn't come out for third attempt.

He was immediately tended to by medical officials and somehow got to his feet, saluted the crowd and walked off under his own power.Late he was taken to the hospital for X-rays.

Beijing gold medallist Matthias Steiner was cruelly denied the chance to defend his crown in the men's over-105kg weightlifting competition at the London Olympics after he was forced to withdraw after dropping the bar on to his head and then shoulder.
