Monsoon rains swamp Manila

Al least 53 people killed in the Philippines after deadly Monsoon rains and a nearby tropical storm "Haikui" hits the country in the recent days paralyzed traffic and closed offices and schools , reports Reuters and Mail Online.

'It's like a water world,' 'Now that it's getting dark, I would like to repeat, if the rains are heavy you should be at the evacuation centers,' said Benito Ramos, head of the government's disaster response agency

The most damage occurred in the Philippine capital city Manila and surrounding areas as at least a third of the capital's suburbs were submerged by neck-deep waters on Tuesday , August 7, forcing nearly 270,000 people to leave their homes across the country while hundreds of others stayed in emergency shelters said the state-run Philippines News Agency (PNA).

Meanwhile , the national disaster agency said nine members of same family were killed due to landslides in the Manila suburb of Quezon City including three children.
