Richmond, California: Two storage tank are currently on fire at Chevron oil refinery explosion in Richmond which occured Monday around 6:30 pm PT. The explosion Chevron oil refinery seems happened while maintenance work in a pump leak was being carried out, although there's no confirmed injuries reported.

Contra Costa health services issued a public alert, "Residents in Richmond. North Richmond and San Pablo. Are advised to shelter in place. Go inside. Close All windows and doors. Turn off all heaters. Air conditioners and fans. If not using the fireplace. Close fireplace dampers and vents. And cover cracks around doors and windows with tape or damped towels. Media news networks will continue to carry updated emergency information. Stay Off the telephone unless you have a life threatening emergency."

Chevron explosion photos quickly end up on Twitter seen plumes of black smoke following the blast. One tweet,

@ArCuLi, "Apparently there was an explosion at the chevron refinery... Yup I'm that close. The sirens are going off"

Chevron has been selling crude oil processing and retail operations, according to Chevron Richmond refiney wiki,

"The Chevron Richmond Refinery is a 2,900-acre petroleum refinery in Richmond, California, on San Francisco Bay. It is owned and operated by Chevron Corporation and employs more than 1,200 workers. The refinery processes approximately 240,000 barrels (38,000 m3) of crude oil a day in the manufacture of petroleum products and other chemicals. The refinery's primary products are motor gasoline, jet fuel, diesel fuel and lubricants."

In March 1999 SFGate reported, "Huge Explosion Rocks Richmond Oil Refinery as Thousands ordered indoors while 3 hurt responding to blast. However, the regularity of these kinds of accidents brings horror to the residents sorrounding in the Chevron oil refinery facility. In June 2011, four workers were killed in Chevron refinery explosion in Pembroke Dock complex in south-west Wales, UK. Chevron company has a good safety record but is at constant risk of serious accidents lately. Chevron hasn't release any statement regarding the Richmond blast incedent.
