Cincinnati, Ohio - Michael Gunn and his child (did) live in a complex in Cincinnati, his black child, 10, was hassled in June 2011 for going in the ‘Public Swimming Pool.’
This is not the late 1800′s or early 1900′s and yet this incident has surfaced and is before the courts now.
Complex landlord Jamie Heins (white) says she bought the sign at an antique store and ‘she is not a racist.’
Currently it is before a Ohio Civil Rights Act violation hearing and the Judge has reserved judgement. Since the incident they have moved and incurred moving and many other expenses, not to mention the trauma and disgust of the little black child.
Gunn’s daughter says the landlord said it was her “Black hair products” that ‘clouded the pool‘ were a problem for the pool, that doesn’t even pass the smell test.
They are suing for all expenses including punitive damages for the shaken child and expect to win easily.
They have already moved from the complex as they await the decision by the Judge, which should be announced later this week.
