A gunman, believed to be a terrorist, attacked worshippers in a Sikh temple (gurdwara) in Wisconsin, Milwaukee and shot dead 6 devotees before he was killed by the police.

This has been reported in nzherald.co.nz of dated 6th of August 2012.

The police had surrounded the temple presuming that there were a number of terrorists and they had taken hostages in the premises.

But their fears were unfounded – the attacker turned out to be a loner.

The police have not released any information on the identity of the gunman and have said that since this is being treated as an act of domestic terrorism, the FBI would carry out necessary investigation.

This temple had started in 1997 with a small group of 25 families and construction on the current temple in Oak Creek began in 2006.
