Olympic USA athletics 2012 live results: Can Lolo Jones and Jason Gatlin shine in London?

Amazing atmosphere will unfold today in the Olympic Stadium as the busy day of athletics schedule events begin in Track and Field at the 2012 London Olympics.

Although Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt almost grabs the headlines coming into this event but theirs a lot of sub stories behind like could this be the passing of the torch to Yohan Blake, the fellow Jamaican who beat Bolt in two events 100m and 200m in the Men's Olympics trials.

The main story of the United States athletics is if hurdler Lolo Jones can really win an Olympic medal in 100-meter hurdle, by doing so she has to upstage first fellow American gold medalist in 2008 Biejing Olympics, Dawn Harper.

Jones and Harper are set for Women's 100m Hurdles round 1 on Monday and Semifinals will be on Tuesday. In women's 100-meter and 200-meters event, it will be Carmelita Jeter and Allyson Felix will lead the USA flags.

In USA men's athletics, American sprinter Justin Gatlin is trying to prove he can comeback from a doping case in 2008 Olympics after setting a 100 m personal best of 9.80 seconds in winning Olympic gold in Athens. Gatlin also holds record in two-time World indoor champion in the 60-meter dash.

Along with Gatlin is Tyson Gay who also campaigning for USA medals in 100-meters while Maurice Mitchell and Isiah Young will lead the men's 200-meters who all have a chance to face the fastest man Usain Bolt. Saturday will be the preliminary heat for men's 100-meters.

USA Athletics hauls 23 medals both in men and women as one of the highlights of Beijing 2008 which has 12 new Olympic records and five new world records set.
