On the 5th of August, it would be the 50th death anniversary of the Hollywood matinee idol Marilyn Monroe who died at the age of 36 years.
The files connected to her death which used to be with the FBI are apparently not traceable.
This has been reported in telegrah.co.uk of dated the 2nd of August 2012.
The FBI maintained dossiers on celebrities and many of the reports connected to Marilyn Monroe had been filed under ‘Foreign Counterintelligence’.
This has intrigued all those who wanted to know more about the film star – these include those who had been involved in investigating her death.
Attempts to elicit information under the Freedom of Information Act have failed – the FBI says the files are not with them any longer.
The National Archives, which is the usual destination for such material, also says the files are not with them.
It seems there were fears that she might have been be recruited by the Communist Party during the tenure of longtime FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover. Marilyn’s marriage to playwright Arthur Miller probably kept such suspicions alive.
