Provincial government of Khyber Pakhtoon Khwa in North West of Pakistan has lifted ban on meeting with Dr.Shakeel Afridi and he met with his family and two lawyers for the first time ever since after he was arrested after Abbotabad operation where Al Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden was killed in a US commando operation on May 2, 2011.

Deputy Supt. Central jail Peshawar confirmed that Dr.Afridi met his children and family and also with his two lawyers. He further told that govt has lifted ban and his family can meet him once in a month.

Independent sources told that he was in good health and looking cheerful when his lawyers and family called him on.

Sources also told that he was very happy and delighted when he saw his children for the first time after his arrest in Osama case.

It is to be mentioned here that Dr.Shakeel Afridi was arrested under the allegations of spying for US intelligence agency CIA and extending support in searching of former Al Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden. According the allegations Dr. Afridi conducted a fake polio campaign in the area and helped US in searching out OBL.

He was than jailed for 33 years by a Jirga comprising three members from his tribe Afridi under the prevailing Law of the tribal areas called frontier crimes regulations (FCR).

Analysts say that the relaxation in his case is perhaps the direct outcome of the improvement in Pak US relations after the restoration of NATO Supply which remained closed since the incident of SALA where NATO forces killed 24 Pakistani Army men on 26 November 2011.
