A folk-rock and country band is currently hitting the road in Luzon, the biggest island in the Republic of the Philippines. Saga, the band's name, plays songs popularized by legends like The Eagles, Beatles, Crosby, Stills, and Nash, America, John Denver, etc.
Formed in the early 2000s, the four-piece band made a popular following in the island, especially in Angeles City where the seat of entertainment in the Central Luzon region is located.
Saga has played at Subic Diamond Casino (defunct), Casino Filipino, Mimosa at Clark Field, and at the Casino Filipino in Angeles City.
A big number of their audience say that the band sounds great, and is comparable to internationally-renouned performers.
Saga is composed of Willie C. Santos, (lead vocals, drums, guitar, percussion, and harmonica), Arman Carlos (vocals, lead guitar), Caloy Briones (vocals, acoustic guitar), and Boogie Grivas (vocals, bass guitar). What is very interesting with these guys is that, they all have regular jobs aside from their regular Saga gigs. Santos is a full-time broadcast journalist. Carlos is a concrete aggregates businessman. Briones is a Mechanical Engineer, while Grivas is a public school teacher.
It's just amazing how these talented quartet could squeeze all their time to fulfill their hearts' desires...the play...play...and play some more music.
