Bomb scare in US Embassy in Oslo throws life out of gear

The sudden discovery of a bomb like object underneath a car parked in front of the US Embassy in Oslo set off an alarm and the bomb squad had to be summoned along with sniffer dogs.

This has been reported in canada.com of dated 31st of July 2012.

This discovery led to the evacuation of the royal palace, the halting of subway traffic in the area, apart from the cancellation of an international children's soccer game at nearby Voldslokka Stadium.

The police wanted to make use of the field for landing their helicopters.

It was later discovered that it was a fake bomb.

However, life in central Oslo came to a standstill for several hours due to this false alarm.
