Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson at war over pet dog’s custody

Kristen Stewart hooked up with “Snow White and the Huntsman” director Rupert Sanders and confessed to People magazine that she had cheated on her boyfriend and “Twilight” costar Robert Pattinson. Now the couple is in the midst of a bitter custody dispute over their pet dog, Bear.

After news of the cheating broke, Robert Pattinson, 26, packed his bags and moved out of the Los Angeles home that he shared with 22-year-old Kristen Stewart, his girlfriend of 3 years. According to reports, now the pair is in the process of figuring out who will keep their dog Bear whom they adopted from an animal shelter last year while filming “Twilight: Breaking Dawn.”

According to RadarOnline, a source revealed: “After Rob moved his things out of their Los Angeles home, he then told Kristen he wanted Bear.”

The source close to the couple went on to say, “She was heartbroken – they adopted Bear together and she always felt that he was their little baby. But Rob was so hurt by Kristen’s actions he decided that he wants the dog to help him get over what happened. After all, a dog is a man’s best friend and Bear is such a good companion. However, Kristen won’t give up Bear in a hurry. She helped Rob save Bear from Parvo disease, which nearly took its life when it was a puppy.

“She wants joint custody – and it could get a little messy,” the insider added.

According to the source, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson wanted Bear to have a companion so they were looking into the possibility of adopting another rescue before things took a turn for the worst.

“Before news of the affair broke, Robert and Kristen were looking into the possibility of adopting another dog. They were desperate for a play pal for Bear and scoured petfinder.com, as well as a few high-kill shelters in Los Angeles. But it seems that’s out of the question now,” the insider said.

The pair has been living apart ever since photos published by Us Weekly showed Kristen Stewart getting intimate with British director Rupert Sanders who is married and has two children.

Latest reports reveal that Robert Pattinson wants a “man to man” chat with Sanders as he felt he was doubly betrayed by both his lady love and the 41-year-old filmmaker. Reportedly, Pattinson and Sanders had become good friends and the young actor trusted him as the director of his girlfriend’s film.
