There cannot be two Americas; one for rich and other for middle class and poor- this is the message that Barack Obama is trying to campaign during the Presidential lectures and debates.Obama cries loud in favour of the non-whites and the minorities and differs so greatly from , the other Presidential candidate. “We both think of our wives as our better halves” said Barack Obama at the recent White House Correspondents Association dinner in Washington, in funnily commenting on his similarities with Mitt Romney . But we find a serious Obama in this Presidential campaign who envisions a far more muscular role for government in general and the federal government in particular. While the contestant Presidential candidate Romney reposes his faith primarily in the free market Obama is a little conservative in his economic approach and more a socialist in his approach. Throughout his life , he avoided the precepts of organized religion . Even as politician , Obama is not the run of the mill. He carefully avoids the so-called ‘Ameriacanism’. but more aloof than gregarious, more cerebral than impassioned. Obama scarcely knew his father and never got any chance to idolize his father as the rich Romney did. He was multiracial and almost a vagabond — in Hawaii and Indonesia, living a shabby life with his mother or with his grandparents. Obama's father was born in Kenya; his mother in Kansas.
Obama in spite of his long time in politics, lacks the typical politician’s craving for external approval and validation and exhibits a disdain for the ordinary obligations of political life Obama, likewise, deems himself above the meet-and-greet aspect of politics. He hated to waste time, and never gives emotional speeches .He is a technocratic elitist with an abiding faith in the meritocracy. Obama who remains for years before the public eye, reflects yet a certain ideological inscrutability. He earned degrees at Harvard University. Obama spent three years in Cambridge, graduating from Harvard Law School in 1991. Obama took a job at Business International Corp., a New York-based multinational business counseling firm, as a researcher in the financial services division. Obama served, for a time, as a community organizer in Chicago and yet lost his first federal election to in a 2000 Illinois House of Representatives election.Obama is never romantic and emotional. He is out and out a pragmatic problem-solver.Many see in Romney, a centrist or a conservative, an economic wizard or a rapacious capitalist, an adaptable leader or a calculating politician who will do anything to get elected. For Obama, that essential mysteriousness is a plus point. One is not very sure if he is a liberal or a moderate . He is able to inspire voters to pour their hopes into an undefined vessel. Obama’s is a graceful aloofness and it never seems to be awkward.Obama receives massive funding from Wall Street investors and feels concerned about the health care issues. He championed comprehensive health care initiatives called Obamacare
Liberalism has become a global fashion and arguments against capitalism are becoming stronger. Even Whites in the US are getting used to find flaws in capitalism. The increasing gap between rich and poor is one of the biggest reasons for that. True, the gap between rich and poor is increasing but because of globalization; a result of capitalism and not because of any flaw in capitalism. Obama fights Capitalism and yet he cannot be branded as a socialist. The non-White American values are upheld by Obama.
Mr. Obama subscribes to the precept that American power is dwindling and it requires his efforts and ideology to outdo the Post American world theory. He is for higher taxation on rich people. He highlights ignorance of race, historical illiteracy, and statistical naivety. He appears to be promoting unnecessary equalizing theories, hurting individualism, imposing the will of the state on people with overregulation and over-governance. The most glaring feather in his cap is Obamacare, which is a form of hidden explicit taxation . Obamacare in itself is a stark example of overregulation that Mr. Obama is intending. It limits the choices available to people and help intrude government interference in private lives. But it is also true that by implementing Obamacare, Obama woos the cause of many people. There can not be two Americas; one for rich and other for middle class and poor.American state remains what it is because of the dominant White majority. Any deviation from it would weaken America and create chaos in the outside world too. But Obama being an icon of non-whites and minorities of the globe, tries to bring a change to this biased approach of the whites.
