Meet Bollywood film actress Sherlyn Chopra, the first Indian woman to pose nude for Playboy. The 28-year-old actress will grace the cover of the iconic men’s magazine in its November issue with a nude photo shoot inside.
Reportedly, Sherlyn Chopra requested for the nude pictorial in a letter to the magazine and Hugh Hefner’s team accepted the petition in only a few days. "I have become the first Indian to pose naked for Playboy and nobody can take away that achievement from me," Chopra told the BBC in an interview.
However, the Bollywood bombshell said she hasn’t told her mother about her decision to bare it all in the internationally popular men’s magazine’s November issue. "My sister is proud of my achievement. I haven't told anything to my mother, but I think I will visit her and tell her that she has to accept me the way I am," she admitted.
Sherlyn Chopra, who has appeared in several Bollywood movies, became impressed with Playboy’s founder Hugh Hefner after spending time with him at the Playboy Mansion during the photo shoot session. "Even at 87, he knows how to be an effortless charmer!!!" the actress tweeted.
"I had fun meeting him and his girlfriends," she said of the legendary magnate to the BBC. "I am thinking of making him my idol because he lives his life on his terms and conditions. I also live my life on my terms and conditions."
Even though Sherlyn Chopra is not afraid of making history as Playboy’s first Indian cover girl, the Hyderabad native told the BBC that shedding the sari for a men’s tabloid is not all fun and games.
“It is not an easy task to be nude in front of the camera and look good at the same time,” said Chopra.
As expected, Sherlyn Chopra’s decision to strip for Playboy is under fire in her homeland, where the magazine is banned.
An Indian media commentator Gayatri Sankar wrote, “At a time when innocent women across the nation from Gujarat to Guwahati have been subjected to sexual abuse and humiliation, one wonders if Sherlyn Chopra’s pictures wound a woman’s integrity.”
“Isn’t it an irony that on the one side, as common women strive hard to safeguard their modesty, the Sherlyn Chopras encourage voyeurism?” he asked.
Although the print edition of the magazine is banned in India, the people of her native country will be able to see the racy photo shoot online.
