Condoleezza Rice would be a great choice as Romney’s running mate. She has that image of being a strong woman and, certainly, she can attract female voters to vote for Romney. She can also bring in votes from the Evangelical Christian community all over America since she’s a Protestant. Miss Rice can certainly be a plus-factor to the Romney Campaign since her image as a ‘global diplomat’ could give Team Romney the credibility that it needs among foreign policy-conscious voters. There are many American voters who are conscious about the would-be foreign policy of a presidential candidate.
Condoleezza Rice has somehow become an iconic symbol for the working women of America. She has excellent academic records and her successful career in government can surely appeal to a female voter of whatever age. Romney needs solid votes from female voters. Also, Miss Rice is an African-American woman who can convince many Black voters to support Romney. The prospect of Romney seizing sizable amount of voters from the African-American community can become a reality if Miss Rice becomes his running mate.
Miss Rice had a Successful Career in Government
Miss Rice served as Director, and then Senior Director, of Soviet and East European Affairs in the National Security Council of the first Bush administration from 1989 through March 1991. Miss Rice helped develop Bush's and Secretary of State James Baker's policies in favor of German reunification. On December 17, 2000, Miss Condoleezza Rice was named as National Security Advisor by the 2nd Bush administration. She served as America’s National Security Advisor from 2001 to 2005. She was known then as a tough advisor when it comes to fighting global terrorism.
On January 26, 2005, the Senate confirmed her nomination as Secretary of State by a vote of 85–13. She served as US Secretary of State from 2005 to 2009. As Secretary of State, Miss Rice championed the “expansion of democracy” in many parts of the world. She was then very vocal about giving out encouragement and support to reformist groups in Middle East and North Africa who are working for democratization and the creation of mechanisms that will secure the citizens’ basic human rights in the Arab world. She also advocated regional solutions to problems like terrorism, drug trafficking, and diseases.
Miss Rice as an ‘Influential Woman’ on Earth
Rice has appeared four times on the Time 100, Time magazine's list of the world's 100 most influential people. Rice is one of only nine people in the world whose influence has been evaluated as enduring enough to have made the list—first compiled in 1999 as a retrospective of the 20th century and made an annual feature in 2004—so frequently. In 2004 and 2005, she was named as the most powerful woman in the world by the prestigious Forbes magazine and later became number two in year 2006.
Miss Rice is definitely one of the most influential women in today’s world. She has the ‘toughness’ that many women would like to acquire. She has displayed excellent leadership qualities when she served as a foreign-policy advisor and as Secretary of State. The world loves a tough woman who can maintain her calmness and feminine charm even during challenging moments.
Miss Rice as a Plus Factor for the Romney Campaign
Miss Rice would certainly be a plus factor for the Romney campaign if she gets chosen as Mitt’s running mate. She has the prestige and image of a great leader who can talk intelligently and act decisively. Such image of hers can compliment Romney’s appeal as a person who knows how to successfully run a business. She’s smart and tough! Of course, a Vice President doesn’t have so much work in government, but Miss Rice can magnetize support for Romney in this campaign-season. We all know of the fact that Romney is not that popular among many “Southern Evangelicals.” Since Miss Rice is a Protestant, she can appeal to Protestants and Evangelicals to lend support to the Romney Campaign and vote for Mitt Romney. Also, Romney is not that well-known to be a champion of gender equality. Miss Rice can bring in “women power” to the Romney Campaign because she is well-known as a woman who became very successful in her work as Secretary of State.
Miss Rice can attract many women to vote for Romney. Even though Rice is a Conservative, she is a true icon for feminism since she has shown to the whole world that a woman can also formulate practical solutions to certain global problems. She can make many Evangelical Christians become supportive of Romney’s bid to be the new chief executive of the US. Miss Rice can also attract many Black voters to cast their votes in favor of Romney. Having Miss Rice as a running mate would certainly make Romney become very attractive to women, Blacks, and Evangelical Christians.
