Mitt Romney, who is thought to be the nomination as a presidential candidate from GOP is now going to announce his running mate. He is being advised by the former Vice President Dick Cheney to make the selection very carefully and avoid wrong pick like he did during his time four years back. Dick Cheney chose Sarah Palin as the candidate for vice president but thinks his decision was not correct.

“That one I don’t think was well handled. I like Governor Palin. I’ve met her. I know her -- attractive candidate. But based on her background, she had only been governor for, what, two years? I don’t think she passed that test of being ready to take over. And I think that was a mistake,” Cheney commented on his decision as reported at boston.com.

Romney is on a tour to Israel and has not yet announced his running mate. His sources say that he is considering various options right now but no information has been released about his final decision. Romney has however admired Cheney for his political skills and feels that he has the capability to become the president of the nation.

“This is a man of wisdom and judgment, and he could have been president of the United States. That’s the kind of person I’d like to have -- a person of wisdom and judgment,” Romney said during his campaign earlier as reported at boston.com.

Dick Cheney had a heart transplant in March this year and was away from the political affairs. He is now returning to public and recently gave an interview at Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The interview has not been aired yet. It is going to be aired on Good Morning America, World News with Diane Sawyer and Nightline on Monday.

As the presidential elections are approaching, the candidates are becoming more focused on their campaigns and strategies to gain public support. In this time advice from senior politicians are very important as they are based on their experiences. Dick Cheney has also given his advice in the light of his past experiences in his career.

The decision from Mitt Romney is still to come and he says that he would not announce his running mate before he comes back. There are no clues about his pick up till now. The announcement is therefore being eagerly awaited by his supporters as well as other political figures.
