Borussia Dortmund has completed another test in its preparation phase for the 2011/12 Bundesliga season. In a Sunday game at the Pepsi Arena in Warsaw, the champions defeated Legia Warsaw with a fourth minute goal by Lukas Lewandowski (a Polish national).

Although Matt Hummels was once again available, Mario Goetze missed the match due to an eye infection. The newly acquired Reus played the central control in midfield in the first half surrounded by Grosskreutz, Grundogan Kuba and Kehl. Lewandowski was the only striker.

Lewandowski scored the only goal just four minutes into the match. After a pass from Lowe, Lewandowski moved around Legia defender Sula, placing the ball into the net with ease.

Although there were numerous opportunities for Borussia, the Poles were not without opportunity. They detected some defensive holes a few times, but without success.

This recent phase had seen Borussia operate in high temperatures and humidity, which was also the case during this game. The unfriendly hot and humid weather seems to have taken a toll on the Champions.

During the second half coach Jurgen Klopp changed the complete lineup with the exception of goalkeeper Weidenfeller.

Prior to matchday one of the new Bundesliga season on August 24th, Dortmund will have a test game against Preussen Muenster this coming Wednesday. On the weekend of 4th and 5th August will competing in the Liga-Total Cup in Hamburg. Others participating will be FC Bayern, Werder Bremen and Hamburger SV.

On August 12th will be the first real test of the new season, when Dortmund travels to the Allianz Arena to meet FC Bayern in the DFB Pokal Super Cup. Dortmund garnered three points in the last four contests against the Bayern. Can they do it again without their star player Kagawa, who has moved to the Premier League?

Jurgen Klopp, who has been successful in making Dortmund the dominant side in Germany, will certainly set his sight on good results in the Champions League.

With the preparation phase almost gone, the rubber is about to hit the road.

Line Up First Half: Weidenfeller - Piszczek, Santana, Humme, Löwe - Kehl, Gündogan - Blaszczykowski, Reusm Großkreutz - Lewandowski

Line Up Second Half: Weidenfeller - Kirch, Subotic, Günter, Schmelzer - Bender, Amini - Bittencourt, Leitner, Perisic - Schieber

It sure was an exciting game from start to finish, sort of kept you on the edge of the seat wondering how many goals would be scored by both teams. Great report, thank you.

Bayern will still have to watch out for Dortmund since no team stepped up to sign Lewandowski. However, Bayern is absolutely loaded now with the signings of Mandzukic and Shaqiri.

That's right nothing is a given. Mandzukic will be a great addition to Bayern. It may put a little fire under Gomez's butt. The starting line up on Aug 12th will give an indication of what Jupp Heyncke is thinking.
