Ford recalls Escape to address gas pedal issue

A problem with gas pedal in Escape and Maverick vehicles by Ford Motor Company has forced the company to recall the vehicles for repair and maintenance. The problem was reported to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration by the owners of the mentioned vehicles. A significant number of accidents have also been reported because of the problem which has resulted in injuries and a death casualty as well.

The recent recall involves 485,000 vehicles that have been assembled in the time period from the year 2001 till 2004. The owners of these vehicles are being provided with free of cost services in the repair of the defected vehicles. The company is making every effort to satisfy the owners with the services in order to maintain their reputation.

The company has issued statement for the customers to inform them about the services for repair of their defected vehicles. “Parts for the permanent repair are not currently available. In the meantime, we have authorized your dealer to perform an interim repair, which will disable the speed control system on your vehicle to eliminate the possibility of a stuck throttle when the accelerator is fully or almost-fully depressed. This temporary repair will allow you to continue driving your vehicle until parts for the permanent repair are available,” the company’s statement said as reported at csmonitor.com.

The Escapes by Ford have also been recalled previously for other issues. This recall is however bigger and more accidents have been reported because of this gas pedal problem. The company takes full responsibility of the problem and assures the customers of complete repair and required service. The recalled vehicles are from different states in the U.S. as well as outside United States. Therefore the handling of the issue will take time to complete.

The recalls by Ford for its models is going to create an impression in the market that vehicles by the company are not very reliable and have quality issues with them. The competitors can take advantage of the situation to rise in the tough competition in the auto industry.
