With reports of columns of tanks lined up on the outskirts of Aleppo, the second largest city of Syria, there is genuine apprehension in the US that another massacre might be in the offing in Aleppo.
The army was apparently preparing for an all-out assault in the densely populated Aleppo and the rebels have also brought in 1500 to 2000 strong ‘army’ to fight.
This has been reported in nzherald.co.nz of dated the 27th of July 2012.
The war is to between the troops of President Bashar al-Assad and rebels who want to oust him from power.
The US State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland has said that the US would not intervene. However, it would certainly extend non-lethal assistance to the opposition rebels who have been fighting for the last 16-months to remove President Bashar al-Assad from power.
It is obvious that the US would be maintaining a close watch on developments.
