Bayern completed it's China test in good form, defeating Wolfsburg 2-1 in a fast paced match. 50,000 Chinese spectators in the Gangzhou Olympic stadium were treated to a delight, where Ribery anddemonstrated their ability to combine and make things happen in the opponents 16 meter box.
Ex-Wolfsburg player Mario Mandzukic, who was transfered to Munich just prior to the season, opened the scoring for Munich with a penalty kick in the 29th minute. The penalty was awarded after Hasebe down Muller.
Arjen Robben upped the score to 2-0 in the 39th minute, after Franc Ribery dribbled the ball up the right side and put a superb pass into Robbens running path.
Wolfsburg also had several chances and but were unable to score until injury time of the second half, when Vaclav Pilar scored to narrow the result to 2-1.
Bayern Munich executive committee Karl Heinz Rummenigge said that the China trip was without a doubt very successful. He said it was very important for the club, since it permitted to fullfil some goals. Uli Hoeness, Bayern President said it was a giant succcess. China, the largest country in the world has unlimited economic potential and we must be present he said.
There is no question that this game and the previous one against Guangzhou aroused the interest of Chines spectators. It is all about selling the Bayern and Bundesliga brand.
Bayern now has just under three weeks to complete it's preparation for the DFB Super Cup on August 12th against Dortmund. This will be the day the "rubber hits the road."
