On Wednesday, a Virginia child was reported killed in the Prince William County community; the 4-year-old accidentally shot himself to death. Police reports suggest that the unnamed child found an unsecured weapon while playing inside a pickup truck of a family member. It is believed the victim accidentally pulled the trigger and thus got killed.
Wednesday’s tragic accident occurred when the innocent boy somehow managed to climb into the said vehicle that was parked outside the family house, unlocked. All alone in the car, the boy found a handgun stashed in the vehicle, said police and added that the victim’s family was inside the home.
Police report further revealed that the toddler’s mother and neighbours heard a gunshot and rushed to the vehicle, screaming aloud; only to find the little boy motionless, on the back seat; with a hole to his head. One of the neighbours described it was a horrible site; blood pouring out of the baby’s head.
Following the tragedy occurring at around 3:25 p.m. the victim was rushed to a hospital whereby he was pronounced dead by the authorities. It was not immediately told whom the handgun belonged to. Meanwhile, police confirmed that the evident gunshot to the boy’s head was a self-inflicted one.
They further said the force was strong enough for the small boy to throw him partially through the back window. Officer Jonathan Perok subsequently informed media people that police waited to do the investigation after the grieving family calms down. No arrests were made.
