It was a serious breach of security of the highest order when Liam Corcoran, an 11-year old boy flew from Manchester to Rome in a jet2.com flight without any passport or boarding pass.
This has been reported in daliymail.co.uk of dated 25th of July 2012.
The boy had passed through at least five security check points and concerned staff at the airport has been suspended.
Liam had, apparently, run away from his mother when on a shopping trip at the Wythenshawe Civic Centre and had made a beeline for the airport.
Once there, he joined a group of family holidaymakers and duped the security staff into presuming that he was a part of the group.
The goof up was detected in flight and the captain first informed Manchester Airport who, in turn, contacted Liam’s anxious mother.
Later, the flight landed at the Fiumicino Airport in Rome and Liam was sent back by return flight to his home.
