Things have been far from hunky-dory between father and son Prince William and Prince Charles, reported Globe earlier. But now the relationship is said to be even worse ever since Camilla Parker-Bowles decided to make an unsolicited visit to Kate Middleton recently.
Apparently she did so as she wanted to take advantage of William’s absence to join Catherine for a spontaneous tea party. However, there was nothing innocuous in Camilla’s visit. Her reason for dropping by was actually to try to humiliate Duchess Kate.
According to sources, Camilla has been acting ‘particularly obnoxious’ ever since Queen Elizabeth announced the new royal decree by which Duchess Kate had to curtsy to senior royals like Camilla in public, whenever Prince William was not around. Camilla has been said to be exploiting the new rule to lord over modest Kate.
The backdrop to the confrontation between Prince Charles and William requires some clarification. By popular sentiment Prince William was expecting to ascend the throne but has now become quite bitter ever since his grandma Queen Elizabeth II took the decision that Prince of Wales (Charles) will be succeeding her to the throne.
This despite the fact that majority of the Britons (according to surveys) prefer the more popular and respectable William as a perfect choice for being the British monarch. William’s friends opine that he was “stabbed in the back” by his own father.
Apparently, Prince Charles convinced the 86-year-old Queen that William and Kate were just “too immature” to take on the responsibility of the British Crown. GLOBE (print edition, July 30, 2012) quoted a palace insider in this context.
“William is convinced Camilla was the puppet master behind the Queen’s decision. He believes she persuaded hapless Charles it would be best for the nation if William and Kate were left to go on with the rest of their lives and raise a family,” disclosed the insider.
However, the intuitive and worldly-wise William knows the truth – “He sure that Camilla only wanted to realize her dream of becoming one of the world’s richest and most powerful women. It’s the only reason she’s staying in her sham marriage,” add the inside source.
However, Queen Elizabeth’s deal with son Charles has a rider attached. She has agreed to allow him to ascend the throne after her, provided he keeps his marriage to Camilla intact. As it is the whole world knows about Charles murky divorce from William’s mother, Princess Diana amidst a terrible scandal.
At that point Charles was said to be cheating her with Camilla and nearly everyone knew it. Hence a second divorce now would be out of the question as it would permanently impair Charles’ chance of becoming Britain’s King. He needs to do everything in his power to keep the batty Camilla happy and she is said to be quite a handful.
Against this backdrop, just imagine the shock that Duchess Kate must have got when out of the blue, the wily Camilla telephoned her and announced that she was coming over for tea! “Camilla told her, you and I need to talk and I’m not going to leave until we thrash things out once and for all. I want you to show me respect!”
The palace insider believes Camilla’s sole intention in visiting Kate was to humiliate her and use the opportunity to bend Kate to her will. The source said: “Charles’s wife called her chauffeur-driven car, snootily telling Kate she expected tea ready and waiting -on the very best China – the moment she arrived It was intended to be an insult – and Kate reacted like she’d been slapped in the face!”
Well, as anyone can well imagine, the little impromptu tea party was a super flop. However, later when William got to hear about Camilla’s machinations, he is said to have confronted his dad. He was even overheard telling Charles: “Camilla was completely out of order; she was not invited and had no business being in my house!”
Naturally, Charles was enraged at William’s sharp comments, especially since he is doing everything to appease Camilla so that she remains docile and does not destroy his chance of becoming the king. As it is, he is least bothered whether Camilla wants to make Kate curtsy to her or not, it’s inconsequential to him. Apparently, the exchange between father and son got pretty nasty.
All the gory details plus what took place at the tea party between Camilla and Kate Middleton can be read in this week’s Globe issue. Of course it’s left to the readers’ discretion to believe or not whatever is being reported by Globe. Would love to know what you think about this exchange and the backdrop to the royal fracas.

@Terry: Somehow in this
whole mess, it looks like
Camilla's role is dubious.
Don't find Kate at fault
