Bible Verse of the Day
23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.
James 1:23-24
Have you ever looked in a mirror only to walk away and forget what you looked like?
It happens to me all the time… but not in the way you may be thinking.
I am not talking about a physical mirror but a spiritual one.
I get glimpses from time to time of the man I want to be, the man God created me to be… the healed and restored me. Only to have life come and strip away that image.
We talked last week about joy and how the enemy comes after it knowing that if he can get us to lose joy, then the other things he is trying to accomplish is much easier.
But that is not his initial attack, he first attacks our identity, either through direct assault or through an erosion of our memory of who we are at our deepest levels.
He knows if he can strip away who are then joy is an easy target to steal.
So who are we? Who are you?
You are a beloved child of the Father. You are the one He is pursuing to show you His love, to give you healing, and restoration. You are the apple of your Father’s eye and He is crazy about you. He loves you for who you were yesterday, who you are today, and who you will be tomorrow. You have at your deepest core a good heart, a heart of compassion and love.
The hard parts are letting yourself believe this truth and then holding onto it.
Will you believe it again today (or for the first time today)?
Will you do all that you can to hold on to this reflection?
This is key…
Have blessed day,
