A huge cache of bombs and rockets have been discovered in the East Riding beach of Mappleton, near Hornsea which is a popular seaside holiday resort.

This has been reported in telegraph.com.uk of dated 22nd of July 2012.

This area used to be a practice bombing range used in the WWII and this arsenal is believed to be of that era some 60-years back.

Bad weather coupled with landslides has revealed this cache of over 1000 bombs and coast guards have warned tourists to be careful of the dangerous bombs and not surrender to curiously because these are charged and could explode if not handled properly.

There are mortar bombs and 25-pounder bombs which used to be fired into the adjacent cliffs by RAF aircraft for practice during the WWII.

A bomb disposal team of the Army has been asked to clear the area at the earliest and ensure safety of the holiday crowd.
