A farmer in Austria has been fined €100 ($118) by the court because the bells he had put on his cows were too noisy and were causing disturbance to the locals who were unable to sleep properly because of this unwanted noise pollution.
This has been reported in australian.com.au of dated 21st of July 2012.
It seems two villagers of Stallhofen in the southeast Austrian state of Styria had complained that the high decibel of the cowbells were not acceptable because the bells would be banging the water trough and disturb sleep.
The court asked the farmer to either replace the bells with ones of lesser decibel levels or reposition the trough.
The farmer refused to comply and, hence, was slapped with the fine.
