Unbelievably sad news today.
A shooting in a Colorado movie theater during a midnight viewing of “The Dark Knight Rises” has left 12 people dead and many more injured after a crazed gunman went on a rampage.
24-year-old took 4 guns into the emergency exit of the Century 16 movie theatre in Aurora, CO and opened fire on the movie audience who were watching the latest Batman movie. Among the shot was a 3-month old baby, a woman who had narrowly missed being shot a week before and even military personnel.
He was eventually apprehended in the movie theater’s parking lot without a fight. Because of the tragedy, Warner Bros. cancelled tonight’s premiere of the movie in Paris, releasing a statement: ”Warner Bros. is deeply saddened to learn about this shocking incident. We extend our sincere sympathies to the families and loved ones of the victims at this tragic time.”
More after the jump.
Future screenings of the movie will now be highly guarded, especially those in NYC. Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said, ”As a precaution against copycats and to raise the comfort levels among movie patrons in the wake of the horrendous shooting in Colorado, the New York City Police Department is providing coverage at theaters where the ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ is playing in the five boroughs.”
