This year is definitely turning out to be a great one for Anne Hathaway. First she got engaged to be married to boyfriend Adam Shulman and now she’s receiving enthusiastic reviews for her role as Selina Kyle aka Catwoman in "The Dark Knight Rises".
In her recent interview, Hathaway offered some insights into her work and life. Recalling her time as a child, Hathaway said playing Catwoman was nothing less than living her life-long dream.
“I recall doing interviews for The Princess Diaries and reporters asked me whether as a child I dreamed of being a Princess and instead of giving the standard answer, 'Well, of course,' I was actually dying to say, 'To tell you the truth, I dreamed of being Catwoman!' So playing this part is the coolest and most amazing thing that could have happened to me. It’s almost too good to be true”, Hathaway said beaming with enthusiasm, according to a report by Cover Media.
The best part for Anne Hathaway playing Catwoman was the delicate combination of her character’s sense of humor and irony that makes it difficult to judge “which side of the fence she’s going to come down on."
The stunning actress couldn’t care less how good she looked in her Catwoman suit. Instead, her main aim throughout the shooting was to focus on being able to do all the moves in as convincing a way as possible while living up to expectations of the audience.
Hathaway confessed that the role wasn’t without its pressures.
“I would be lying if I said I didn’t feel a ton of pressure. There were a lot of expectations and I tried to enjoy it as much possible. I was playing a great character and it was very well written,” she said.
Commenting on director Christopher Nolan, Hathaway said she loved the way he structured the story, which is the third and final part of Nolan's Batman trio, while noting that the most amazing thing about him is that although he’s one of the most successful filmmakers in Hollywood, his movies are hardly Hollywood-style because he gathers alternative techniques from various sources.
Talking about her personal life, the 29-year-old actress said that while she couldn’t wait to get married to fiancé Adam Shulman and plan a family, tying of the knots might not be happening anytime soon.
“I have too much going on so it’s going to have to be next year,” she said.
