ST. LOUIS, MO (JULY 19, 2012) – The Early Childhood Development Center at New Horizon located at 206 Emerling Drive in North County, is now able to take youngsters starting at 6 weeks old. Operated by Pastor B.T. Rice and the New Horizon Christian Church, the Center offers customized care and educational programs for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years, in an area where affordable child care programs are often hard to find.

“We are very pleased that we are now able to take children as young as 6 weeks old. There was a need in our community for such care and we now can offer quality child care to children from 6 weeks to 5 years old,” Pastor Rice said.

The philosophy of the center is “Learning through Play.” The center is located at 206 Emerling Drive, St. Louis 63121, just south of Interstate 70 across from Express Scripts and UMSL. New Horizon offers working parents in the community high quality child care with an early education option. Parents can also view their children while at the center remotely.

“We have been serving the community for the past 14 years. We opened the center in 2010, but have just received approval to take children as young as six weeks old. I see families searching for a positive, loving environment for their children while they are at work. New Horizon was created to help fill the gap,” said Pastor Rice.

Approximately 80 percent of children age 5 and younger with employed mothers are in child care for an average of nearly 40-hours a week with someone other than a parent, according to the report, Working Families and Growing Kids: Caring for Children and Adolescents.

The Center offers a full-service child care and education experience for infants through pre-kindergarten, and features small class sizes. “Children enrolled at the center experience an enriching curriculum that empowers them to be confident and successful lifelong learners. The goal of the Center is to provide exceptional, educational programs to help children develop the physical, cognitive, emotional and social skills needed to realize their full potential,” Audrey Parks, Interim Director, said.

New Horizon is currently accepting children for fall enrollment. For additional information, please contact Mickey Thomas or Audrey Parks at 314-524-1244, or the website at www.newhorizonecdc.org.
