The Madd Rapper Hates on Gaming to Death: Kid Dies After 40 Hours Of Video Game Playing!
An 18-year-old gamer in Taiwan died after playing the best-selling "Diablo 3" game for forty hours straight. That's right, the teen spent an entire work week's worth of hours gaming non-stop, collapsed and then died. So reports the Australian Associated Press citing Taiwan's United Daily News as the source of the information. According to the AP, the teen booked a private room at an Internet cafe in southern Taiwan and then proceeded to play for nearly two days without eating. An attendant entered the room and found Chuang resting on a table. After the attendant woke him, he stood, took a few steps and then collapsed, the report said. He was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at a local hospital. Sadly, this is not the first time this has happened in Asia where gaming addiction is an ongoing issue. Back in February, a 23-year-old gamer died after playing a marathon session of "League of Legends" in a New Taipei gaming center. In February of last year, a 30-year-old man died at an Internet cafe outside Bejing after a three-day gaming binge. Back in 2005, a 28-year-old South Korean man died after playing "Starcraft" for 50 hours. In most cases, the cause of death was cardiac arrest. Sure, it's easy enough to think this is a problem that happens to other people in other places. But let's admit it -- we've all played a few choice games for too long (I'm lookin' at you "Skyrim").
