police vows to crackdown illegal lodges in Kampala City

Kampala Metroploitan Police vows to crackdown illegal lodges saying that majority of the lodeges are crime spots. Kampala Metropolitan police spokeperson Senkumbi says that most lodges are now places where most crime is committed. Senkumbi says that some lodge attendants connive with wrongdoers to rob and kill their customers.

'' We have found out that most lodges operate illegaly. Lodge attendants connive with thugs to rob their customers. We are to crakdown such illegal lodges.'' Said Senkumbi, the Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson.''

Most lodge operators have welcomed the operation but also expressing their fear that their competitors may use this operation to tarnish other good lodges.

'' We request police to be sinsitve when carring out this operation because our competitors may use it to destroy our business.'' Said one of the lodge owners in Kampala.

Kampala Metroploitan police says that all lodges must have a register at their reception, metal detector, urinals among other requirements. The police spokesperson says that lodges without such requirements will be closed. Police says that the operation starts with Kampala.

The to Crime and Traffic Road Safety report of 2011 indicates that there is high crime rate in areas with many lodges. It is upon this report survey, that police is to crackdown illegal lodges in Kampla.
