Earlier this week, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) released their Global Analysis Report for June 2012. The climate of the USA has been scorched for the past month.
Here are some of the results from the report.
-- Last month was the fourth warmest June in US history since 1880.
-- Last month was the warmest month on record for the entire Northern Hemisphere.
-- The average land surface temperature globally made June the warmest on record.
The new term called the flash drought was created by NOAA to explain what happened last month because there was no indication that there would be that much of a temperature change from May to June. As a result, the flash drought has devastated the USA.
Due to the flash drought, corn production has dropped about 70%. That means that food prices will be increasing within the next few months.
