Football Recruiting

Derrick Green (5-Star/Richmond, VA/Rivals#1-RatedRB)

News

Indicators of prep interest in Oregon continues to trickle out after the conclusion of Nike’s “The Opening.”

Recently named Rivals’ Top 2013 running back Derrick Green (5-Star/Richmond, VA/Rival’s100) was on-hand in Beaverton to “get a feel for Oregon.” A 6’0, 215 lb. bruiser with 4.4 speed, Green is anxious to visit the Ducks in person. “Coming out to Oregon was great. It’s been great to see the area and get a feel… Now I just need to see the facilities and campus at the University of Oregon.

Fellow tailback Craig Lee (4-Star/Redlands, CA) is another potential Oregon backfield addition heading into the fall of 2013. With a commitment date set in August, Lee is optimistic about “trying to get to Oregon” for a visit. “I know (the Ducks) are interested,” said the 6’0, 190 lb. Lee.

Even with the commitments of top West Coast runner Thomas Tyner (5-Star/Beaverton, OR/Rivals#2-RatedRB) and slashing speedster Dontre Wilson (4-Star/DeSoto,TX), Oregon’s pursuit of Green and Lee is indicative of the furious pursuit to keep the status of “Tailback-U” for years to come.

Speaking of Wilson, the recent Duck commit called his “The Opening” experience “really cool…overall.” Blowing through the 40-yard dash and agility drills, Wilson found his niche towards the end of the camp with several long touchdown runs, leading many observers to profess that he’s the real deal. Get excited for this future Duck, Oregon Faithful; we got a potential game-changer on our hands!

Rivals #1-Rated wide receiver Ricky Seals-Jones (4-Star/Sealy, TX/Rivals100) made waves last month after de-commiting from his home-state “orange people.” Seals-Jones, a 6’5, 220 lb. dual sport athlete (basketball), has Oregon in his top five program choices and may wind up in Eugene in the near future for a visit. In regards to the time-frame of a decision, Seals-Jones indicated that he simply “(has) to be patient.”

WE, THE GREEN AND YELLOW, WE – THE DUCK FAITHFUL!!!
