Dinah Washington - Cry Me a River

I never met girl who so loved to cry

When happy she’d cry she’d cry feeling sad

Severe were the tears at times she got mad

She even would cry without knowing why

-

And each cut and sprain was met with a tear

A couple in love brought reason to weep

For baby she’d cry oh look it’s asleep

A hint of goodbye meant crying was near

-

Some fond memory brought moments to sob

She sobbed in the sun she sobbed in the rain

She sobbed for the people starving in Spain

For every season her tears met the job

-

This crying you ask why mind didn’t whirl

Reread the first line I never met girl
