The Nazis had planned to blow up Sir, the wartime leader of Britain, by using a bomb concealed in a bar of chocolate!!
He escaped the assassination attempt because, even though he loved his cigars apart from champagne and brandy, roast beef and stilton Sir Winston Churchill did not have a sweet tooth.
This has been reported in nzherald.co.nz of dated 18th of July 2012.
It seems the German secret agents had planned to smuggle a bar of chocolate disguised as a piece of confectionary into the Cabinet War Room in 1943 – it would have been packed in black paper and would have had gold lettering.
The ‘chocolate bomb’ would have been concealed within a steel box with a thin layer of chocolate spread on top and packed with enough explosives to kill anyone within a radius of several yards and activated immediately it was cut!!
Fortunately, MI5 got wind of this sinister plot – else, the outcome of the World War II might have been quite different.
