The revolt against the Syrian regime has been a turning point, for the first time , fierce fighting between the army and rebels in Damascus. Syrian rebels have announced the launch of a major operation against forces loyal to the regime, in a further escalation of the conflict that has now reached the capital Damascus, still plagued by fighting Tuesday. The rebels said two control districts, and Midane Tadamoun, in the south and east of the capital in mid-day, and heavy fire from automatic weapons were heard Tuesday in the heart of Damascus. Helicopters came for the first time in action in the night and strafed the area Qaboun (east), according to Syrian Observatory for Human Rights . On the diplomatic front, the international mediator Kofi Annan will meet with Vladimir Putin in Moscow.
