Two people were killed in a shooting that broke out during party and several others, including an infant, were injured in Canada's largest metropolis Toronto, police said. Those killed are a male and a female, Police Chief Bill Blair said.
The party was very large attended by more than 200 people, Blair told reporters. Then an altercation broke out between individuals that resulted to an exchange of gunfire. The shooting incident happened on Danzig Avenue, near Morningside Avenue and Lawrence Avenue East in the city’s east side after a fight at a crowded barbecue.
A 20-year-old man and a young teenage girl were killed, and more than 19 were injured in the scuffle, Blair said. The injured aged 18 to 25 were taken to hospitals in the Scarborough area with gunshot wounds.
Not all of those victims are gunshot victims, said Constable Wendy Drummond and added that they have a child, an infant that is also a victim. The child was shot, but the infant will be all right.
One "person of interest" is in custody, said Blair. Police is on the lookout in the area for possibly two or more shooters.
