
Southampton New York New York City television station WCBS reports New York Knicks basketball player Jason Kidd, 39, who recently signed a three year contract worth $9 million dollars was arrested in Southampton on DWI charges early Sunday morning,
Southampton police confirmed Kidd struck a telephone pole while he was driving his Cadillac Escalade and then drove into the woods just before 2am.
Kidd was taken to a hospital to be treated for minor injuries before he was released to the police.
The Southampton Patch reports Kidd was arraigned on a misdemeanor charges and released from prison without bond.
Kidd has played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for the New Jersey Nets from 2001-2008 and the Dallas Mavericks from 2008-2012 before joining the Knicks.
