Percy, aka ‘No. 12’, a racing pigeon from Cannock in Staffordshire in England went missing from 9th of June 2012 after a race.
The race was from Fougeres in Brittany to France but Percy failed to turn up in his home on completion of the race.
It seems he had wandered off to Quebec and was located by the Royal Pigeon Racing Association who identified it through the collar on its feet and contacted the owner 75-year old Bernard Chambers.
He has a stock of more than 150 pigeons and has been racing them for the last 60-years.
This has been reported in skynews of dated 13th of July 2012.
It is a wonder of how Percy managed to fly the 3072-miles to Quebec instead of the 303-miles to the Midlands, his loft.
The only explanation would appear to be that he had hitched a ride on a ship or boat!!
