Skooter reporting 07/14/12
Mitt Romney, GOP presidential nominee has tapered the field of candidates to be his running mate come November and the potential frontrunner would be former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, according to a new report. Condi Rice made Romney’s short list of VP considerations, and that an announcement is now slated for sometime in the “coming weeks,” the Drudge Report reported.
From 2001to 2005, Rice, 57, served under former President George W. Bush as National Security Advisor and in Bush's second term, she replaced Colin Powell and served as Secretary of State until 2009.
Romney still badly trails Obama among women, based on polls and putting a woman in the ticket, or even just raising the probability of a female running mate could help pare into that support.
