Youth to demonstrate naked

Youth in Entebbe, Wakiso District are to demonstrate naked over the Youth Fund. The youth say that the terms and conditions attached to access the fund are quite difficult.Ritah Nankya, a Female Youth Councillor said that out of 700 youth in Entebbe, only 102 youth have accsessed the fund due to the difficult conditions attached to the fund.

'' Most youth can't access the fund allocated because most youth have no landtitles and grantors to back up an account of 10 to 15 million'' Nankya said.

Charles Kayanja, the youth chairperson said that at first he thought the fund was to alleviate poverty among the young people but to him the conditions for one to get the fund are for those people who have worked for some years.

'' The conditions set to get the fund are for those people who have worked for some good years and have some assets like landtiles but not for youth who have just left school.'' Said Charles Kayanja.

The youth say that if Government does not come out to make the access of this fund flexible to youth, they are to demonstrate naked across the town.

The youth have forwarded their proposal to the Finance Minisrty that the youth fund be channeled through Local Government for easy accessibility, monitoring and accountability.

In the Financial Year 2012/2013, Government allocated 25 Billion Shillings to alleviate poverty among the youth through the Ministry of Finance.
