A suspect was being questioned by detectives late Thursday night, at the 48th Precinct station house; the 33-year-old unidentified black man is suspected of raping a North Carolina woman. The victim, also 33, had met the stranger in Manhattan Wednesday, to ask for directions on a train, at the Union Square station.
However, the suspect is believed to have followed the woman to her final destination, when they parted their ways at East Tremont’s subway. The victim had walked to her Boston Road, Howard Johnson Express hotel in Bronx where at around 4 a.m., she found the stranger again; standing outside her hotel room door.
When the door knocked and the woman opened the door to see the visitor, the suspect forced his way into the room, the cops had learned. The man not only raped the NYC visitor but also took away her money, earrings and her cell phone. Before fleeing the room, he tied the victim up, revealed police reports.
The woman had informed about various tattoos the suspect had over his left forearm, right shoulder and bicep area. Words ‘Tiffany’ and ‘Ivan’ were inked on the forearm and shoulder while a ‘Scorpion’ was also prominently visible; good enough proof for the detectives to grab the suspect.
The surveillance camera footage released by police, clearly shows a man carrying a white towel and wearing white T-shirt with jeans; while he left the hotel building.
